My research topics involve finite element simulations of the interaction between the cardiovascular system and medical devices, reduced order modelling, in-vitro biomechanics and 3D printing. I am currently working on the development of surgical assistive tools for the treatment of intracranial aneurysms, specifically coupling finite element models of stents with machine learning to achieve real-time simulations.
During my PhD, I had to opportunity to supervise four master’s students from Mines Saint-Étienne and Università di Palermo. Their projects were dedicated to modelling the endovascular treatment of coiling and investigating the factors that impact its effectiveness
I obtained my bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from Politecnico di Milano in 2017 and my master’s degree in 2019, with a thesis in collaboration with Universidad Politecnica de Madrid. In September 2021, I started my PhD at Mines Saint-Étienne as part of the Marie Curie industrial doctoral program MeDiTaTe. I defended my PhD in February 2024 and I am currently continuing my research at Mines Saint-Étienne in collaboration with the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya.
