Academic interests

My academic interest focuses on the protective effect of FGF19 against osteosarcopenia, for which we’ve established three animal models: hindlimb unloading (HLU), aging, and chronic kidney disease (CKD). My scientific work involves preclinical studies, FGF19 physiology, experiment design, conduction, and analysis. I use various techniques to assess the protective effect of FGF19 on bone loss. I use micro-CT to evaluate 3D bone structures, including trabecular and cortical architectures; histomorphometry to assess bone growth dynamics and the status of bone-associated cells (osteoblasts and osteoclasts); and PCR to measure the expression of genes related to bone growth or resorption at the molecular level. I also complete 3D and 2D correlation analysis (micro-CT vs. Histomorphometry), and correlation analysis between bone and muscle.

Teaching

From January to July 2022, I supervised an M2 student’s internship at the University of Barcelona. During these six months, I guided him in completing in situ hybridization experiments and assisted him in writing his master’s thesis.
